Basic Anatomy of a Grid; Text page, Margins, Flow Lines, Fields/Modules, Columns, Rows, Gutters, Folios, Headers, Footers, Markers; Kinds of Grids - Manuscript, Column, Modular, Hierarchical; History and functions of Layouts as part of different kinds of Grids; Grids as tools to create Balance, Order & Visual Hierarchy; Grids in font designs; Design of Grids in page layouts, selection and applications of Grids in stylesheets; Layout alignment strategies for creating web pages.
