Fluid Flow With Electric Field Source Term
Problem Definition:
The problem considers fully developed laminar flow in a channel as shown in Fig.2.1. It consists of imaginary discharge electrode at the inlet and imaginary collecting electrode at the outlet. By assuming linear variation of electric potential (Eq.2.1) along the length of the channel and a constant value of charge density throughout the channel, analytical solution can be postulated (Eq.2.2). The table 2.1 consists of properties used for the calculations.

We calculated the inlet pressure with parabolic inlet velocity u = 4y(1−y) for different applied potential on the imaginary discharge electrode and compared with the analytical solution of Eq. 2.2. The results shown in Fig.2.2 are in good agreement with analytical solution.
