Online Programmes

IIT Guwahati offers the undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, through the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

This programme is meticulously designed to prepare students to meet the demands of the industry. Upon completion, the students will be well-equipped with essential qualifications, skills, and resources to pursue various roles in the technology sector.
Students admitted to the programme may choose their pace and course of study. A student can register to lesser number of courses than prescribed in a given trimester.
The programme will be 100% online and offered on Coursera platform targeting the international learners too.
The programme is designed for working professionals for enhancing their skills on the contemporary technologies as well as for those who have recently completed Class XII.
The programme facilitates optional 4-week campus immersion plan for hands-on training at IIT Guwahati.
The programme has multi-entry and multi-exit options.

Eligibility: Class XII or equivalent with at least 60% marks and Mathematics as one of the compulsory subjects.
Admission:
- Eligible candidates will be required to enroll into an online Course, based on basic Mathematics, developed specifically for this program. Applicants will be ranked using a Composite Score that will be based upon their performance in Class X, XII, and the online course. Admission will be given on the basis of the rank.
- Alternatively, applicants eligible to appear in JEE (Adv) and have registered for it (in any year) will be given direct admission.

Duration: Minimum duration of the programme is 4 years. It may be extended up to 8 years.
Trimester System: There will be 3 terms per year. Duration of each term is about 12 weeks. A gap of about two weeks will be provided after each term.
Credit Requirement: Total 299 credits for four-year BSc(Hons).

Multi-Exit System: The students may exit at various points by earning the respective certificate after the successful completion of the required coursework. Following multi-exit options will be made available to the students:

Teaching: Fully Online. Medium of instruction is English. Each instruction week will cover recorded videos, live sessions, and discussion hour. Most of the teaching will be done by the faculty members of IIT Guwahati. Some industrial interactions, invited guest lectures, and industry courses/certificates will be made available as part of the degree curriculum.
Assessments: As the programme is being offered to international audience, the assessments will be conducted in online proctored mode. No need to travel to any centre for appearing in classroom examinations.

Programme Fee: Approx. Rs. 3,49,000 for four-year BSc(Hons) degree as per the following break-up:

Admission Fee: Rs. 50,000. To be paid once at the time of admission.
Course Registration Fee: Rs. 1,000 per credit. To be paid every trimester based on the number of credits registered.

Any fees once paid is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
