Important Information for 1st Semester B.Tech. and B.Des. Students (AY 2021-22)

1st Semester B.Tech./B.Des. students of AY 2021-22 must watch this page regularly for updates.

The 1st Semester B.Tech. and B.Des. classes will be started ONLINE. The students are NOT required to come to the campus physically.

This is for information of all the new students admitted to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) through JEE (Advanced) 2021 and Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) through UCEED 2021 at IIT Guwahati.

The admission to the B.Tech./B.Des. programmes is provisional. The admission is subject to verification in due course of all required documents in original for satisfying the eligibility criteria.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, teaching and assessments of all courses of 1st Semester B.Tech./B.Des. will be conducted online.
The Institiute is carefully reviewing the situation of the pandemic and vaccination in the country. Whenever the situation permits, freshers will be invited to the campus. A separate notification will be issued in this regard. Until then, all the freshers are hereby instructed NOT to come/visit physically to IIT Guwahati.

Fee Details

GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates whose family income in the Financial Year 2020-2021 is less than Rs. 5 lakhs can pay reduced fee as given below. They have to upload the Family Annual Income Certificate for the financial year of April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021 issued by the competent authority (District Magistrate / Revenue Officer / Tehsildar) (click here for format DOC, PDF) and Income Affidavit (on non-judicial stamp paper) (click here for format DOC, PDF) while filling up data in Admission Portal.

Most Economically Backward - MEB (Family income is less than Rs. 1 Lakh)	Rs. 30,250/-
Other Economically Backward - OEB (Family income is between Rs.1 Lakh and Rs.5 Lakh)	Rs. 63,583/-

Fee Payment of BTech 1st Semester Students

JEE (Advanced) 2021 will deduct Rs. 2,000/- as Reporting Center Processing Charge from the seat acceptance fee paid by you and the remaining amount (Rs. 33,000/- or Rs. 13,000/- as applicable) will be transferred to IIT Guwahati in order to adjust in the IITG Total fee at the time of admission.

So, the Balance Amount of Fee (= IITG Total Fee minus Rs. 33,000/- or Rs. 13,000/- as applicable) is to be paid through online mode as given below:

SC/ST/PwD	Rs. 17,250/-
GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL – MEB	Need not pay any fee now
GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL – OEB	Rs. 30,583/-
GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL – All Others	Rs. 97,250/-

Excess payment of Rs. 2,750/- paid by GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL – MEB BTech students will be adjusted with the 2nd Semester Admission fee.

Fee Payment of BDes 1st Semester Students

UCEED 2021 will transfer Rs. 15,000/- (SC/ST/PwD) and Rs. 60,000/- (GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL) to IIT Guwahati collected at the time of counselling for BDes students. This amount will be adjusted in the IIT Guwahati fee at the time of admission.

So, the Balance Amount of Fee (= IITG Total Fee minus Rs. 60,000/- or Rs. 15,000/- as applicable) is to be paid through online mode as given below:

BDes - GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL – MEB	Need not pay any fee now
BDes - GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL – OEB	Rs. 3,583/-
BDes - GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL – All Others	Rs. 70,250/-

Excess payment of Rs. 29,750/- paid by GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL – MEB BDes students will be adjusted with the 2nd Semester fee.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If it is found that the information given by the student while claiming fee waiver is false, then the waiver/remission given in tuition fee to the student can be recovered with penal interest, and legal action as deemed fit by the Institute may be taken against the student.
