Academic Background

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, IISc Bangalore, 2016 with Prof. C. S. Jog
    • Thesis Title: Robust Finite Element Strategies for Structures, Acoustics, Electromagnetics and Magneto-Hydrodynamics
  • M.E. in Mechanical Engineering , IISc Bangalore, 2011 with Prof. C. S. Jog
    • Thesis Title: Optimization of Vibrating Structure to Reduce Radiated Noise
  • B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, IIEST Shibpur, 2009 with Prof. D. Datta
    • Thesis Title: Simulation of Wave Propagation in Single and Composite Domains using ANSYS
  • Schooling from Shibpur S.S.P.S. Vidyalaya, Shibpur

Research Interest

  • We are interested to do research in Finite Element Method (FEM) and Structural Optimization. We are specifically interested in developing in house FEM code, improving existing FEM strategies and doing FEM analysis. Till now we have explored in the following domains
    • Structures
    • Acoustics
    • Electromagnetics
    • Squeeze Film Damping in MEMS
    • Structural Acoustic Interaction
    • Magnetohydrodynamics
  • With a background in Continuum Mechanics I understand Nonlinear FEM in Structures and Fluid thoroughly.
  • We also solved a Structural-Acoustic optimization problem using Optimality Criteria method.
  • We are also carrying out research in Iso-Geometric analysis in Structures
  • We are also involved in Experimental and FEM analysis in following Multi-physics application
    • Electromagnetic forming and perforation of Aluminum tubes (Experiments and FE-Based Simulations)
    • Electromagnetic crimping for tube to tube joints (Experiments and FE-Based Simulations)

Professional Experience

  • Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT Guwahati (2017 - Present)
  • Research Associate in Mechanical Department, IISc for one year (2016-2017)
  • Industrial training at TATA STEEL, Jamshedpur to solve a live problem 'Side wall dis bonding of Bucket elevator' in 2008. Suggested few recommendations
