CDMR was launched on 12th July 2021 by the Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The event was graced by Dr. R. K. Bhandari, Former Director CBRI and Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Director of IIT Guwahati. Dr. Sudip Mitra, Head of CDMR convened the event. The launch event was conducted in parallel with an international webinar on Paradigm shift in disaster risk reduction: Role of academics, research, innovation and policies.
