The air conditioning in IIT Guwahati hostels is inadequate, with old machines frequently malfunctioning, particularly in libraries, which hinders students' ability to study comfortably. To address this, new, efficient air conditioners are needed. Additionally, with plans to expand library capacities and the need for cooling in gyms and common areas, we urgently require 30 2-ton and 30 1.5-ton split air conditioners. Each 2-ton unit costs approximately Rs. 60,000, and each 1.5-ton unit costs around Rs. 45,000. This investment will improve student comfort and facility functionality. Prompt procurement and installation are crucial, with machines ready for use within a week.
