Admissions to the Ph.D. and Dual (MS + Ph.D.) Programme in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering

  • The selection process for Ph.D. and Dual (MS+Ph.D.) in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE) will be held from 29th May 2024 to 31st May 2024
  • The list of candidates shortlisted for the upcoming Ph.D./ Dual (MS + Ph.D.) programme admission interviews(July 2024 Session) has been announced. The applicants can check their status in their respective logins on the Application portal. (Link: https://www.iitg.ac.in/admission/login)
  • Candidates are requested to visit this webpage regularly for updates.

OFFLINE WRITTEN TEST (IATMLA) CANDIDATES:

  • Candidates who have not qualified GATE but have completed their M.Tech Degree and have been shortlisted for written test will have to appear for the offline written test (IATMLA) at IIT Guwahati on 29th May 2024.

  • Candidates appearing for offline written exam (IATMLA) will be interviewed online by the panels only if you qualify the offline written exam (IATMLA). Even if you receive the online interview link, you will not be interviewed if you fail to qualify the written exam.

  • Please note that, you will be allowed to appear for written test for only one specialization based on the first panel preference, as mentioned in the online panel preference form. However, if you qualify the exam of your first panel preference you can appear for online interview in one additional panel, if you wish to do so, as indicated by you in the online panel preference form.

  • Reporting Time for the Written Test (IATMLA): All candidates shortlisted for the written test need to report to Room no. 2101 (First Floor of Core 2, Academic Block, IIT Guwahati) for document verification (documents mentioned in the interview call letter) by 8:45 am on May 29, 2024. Your written test will commence from 10.00 am on 29 May 2024.

INFORMATION REGARDING THE ONLINE INTERVIEW PROCESS:

  • Reporting Time for Online Interview: interviews will be held online for all candidates (including those who have qualified IATMLA) and the link for the meeting will be communicated by email.

  • The interviews are expected to commence from 9:00 am onwards in the morning session and 2:00 pm onwards for afternoon session on all days. The exact timings will be communicated to you via email

  • The interviews for Ph.D. and Dual (MS+Ph.D.) programmes will be conducted through SIX specialization panels (as mentioned in Table 2 below). The candidates are required to fill up their panel preferences form (sent in email with call letter) before May 25, 2024, in which you will enter at most TWO panel preferences, for which you wish to be interviewed.

  • Please note that the panel preferences for all candidates should be based on the panels mentioned in your application form only.

  • Candidates who have applied for more than 2 panels may check which panel align to their research interests from the link given here.

  • For candidates who do not fill the online panel preference form, sent via email together with interview call letter, before the deadline, the choices mentioned in the application form will be considered to be their final preference.

JDP/ID/PM CANDIDATES

  • The interviews for Joint Degree Ph.D. (JDP), Inter-disciplinary Ph.D. (ID), and Project Mode Ph.D. (PM) programmes will be conducted in the specialization panels as indicated in Table 2 below. If a candidate is shortlisted in any of these programmes and wishes to appear for the respective interview(s), they must choose the corresponding panel(s) among theTWO preferences. Please note that under no circumstance will you be allowed to appear for more than TWO interviews.

Dual(MS+Ph.D.) Programme
  • The shortlisting criteria for the Dual (MS + Ph.D.) admissions are same as the minimum eligibility criteria specified for Regular studentship category in the institute advertisement for admission to the Dual (MS + Ph.D.) programme in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering for the July 2024 Session.   • In case you meet the eligibility and shortlisting criteria but your application status in the portal shows "Not Shortlisted" or "Not Eligible", then please send an email to: eeeadmissions@iitg.ac.in with the subject line "Discrepancy in shortlisting for Dual (MS + Ph.D.) Admissions July 2024" at the earliest.
Ph.D. Programmes
  • The shortlisting criteria for the Regular and Non-Regular studentship categories for Ph.D. admissions are same as the minimum eligibility criteria specified in the institute advertisement for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering for the July 2024 Session.   • For the Joint Degree Ph.D. (JDP) and Inter-disciplinary Ph.D. (ID) programmes, only Regular studentship category candidates are eligible.
  • For the Project Mode Ph.D. (PM) programme, only Regular category candidates are eligible.

TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT, ACCOMMODATION AND MEAL:

Travel Reimbursement

  • Only the candidates appearing for the Offline Written Test (IATMLA) and qualify it to avail institute assistantship, shall be provided reimbursement of travel expenses at the rate of to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare between hometown and Guwahati, irrespective of the mode (bus/cab/train/flight) the candidate has chosen to travel to Guwahati.

  • You will need to submit Tickets & proof of payment.The inward journey ticket (Boarding Pass/Train ticket) in original, and a photocopy of the outward journey ticket are to be submitted for reimbursement.

  • After processing, travel allowance will be deposited directly to the candidate's bank account (bank details submitted on online application form will be used). Processing might take up to a few months.
Paid Accommodation/lodging
  • The paid accommodation (if you choose to avail it, only for candidates appearing for offline written test) between May 28, 2024, and June 01, 2024, as mentioned in the call letter issued, will be arranged on sharing basis at the IIT Guwahati hostels only.
  • Please note that this accommodation facility is open only to the candidates, not to any person accompanying them. No other request regarding this matter will be entertained.
  • The candidates availing hostel accommodation has to pay @Rs. 200 per day per person to Hostel Affairs Board (HAB) Receipt Account (A/c No- 8652101029343, IFSC-CNRB0008652, Canara bank, IITG branch)
  • Candidates should submit two printed payment proofs; one at the security desk at the time of check-in by writing their name in CAPITAL LETTER and another needs to be submitted during document verification at the offline written test venue on May 29, 2024.

Accommodation for the Male candidates is arranged in Lohit Hostel and for the Female candidates in Disang Hostel's Girls Wing. On arrival at IIT Guwahati Campus, you must report to the security desk of your respective allotted hostels
Meal You may avail food at the available hostel messes on a pay-and-eat basis.
