Ph.D. Programmes
  • The shortlisting criteria for the Regular and Non-Regular studentship categories for Ph.D. admissions are same as the minimum eligibility criteria specified in the institute advertisement for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering for the July 2026 Session. The eligibility criteria for Ph.D. admissions are available here and the studentship eligibility criteria are available here.
  • In case you meet the eligibility and shortlisting criteria but your application status in the portal shows “Not Shortlisted” or “Not Eligible”, then please send an email to: eeeadmissions@iitg.ac.in with the subject line “Discrepancy in shortlisting for Ph.D. Admissions July 2026” at the earliest.

TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT, ACCOMMODATION AND MEAL:

Travel Reimbursement
  • Candidates appearing for the Written Test (IATMLA) and qualify it to avail institute assistantship, shall be provided reimbursement of travel expenses at the rate of to- and-fro sleeper class railway fare between hometown and Guwahati, irrespective of the mode (bus/cab/train/flight) the candidate has chosen to travel to Guwahati.
  • Candidates appearing for in person interview and belonging to Regular studentship category shall be provided reimbursement of travel expenses at the rate of to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare between hometown and Guwahati, irrespective of the mode (bus/cab/train/flight) the candidate has chosen to travel to Guwahati.
  • You will need to submit Tickets & proof of payment. The inward journey ticket (Boarding Pass/Train ticket) in original, and a photocopy of the outward journey ticket are to be submitted for reimbursement.
  • After processing, travel allowance will be deposited directly to the candidate's bank account (bank details submitted on online application form will be used). Processing might take up to a few months.
Paid Accommodation/lodging
  • The paid accommodation (if you choose to avail it) between May 19 2026, and May 22, 2026, as mentioned in the call letter issued, will be arranged on sharing basis at the IIT Guwahati hostels only.
  • Please note that this accommodation facility is open only to the candidates, not to any person accompanying them.
  • Payment details will be updated soon.
  • Candidates should submit two printed payment proofs; one at the security desk at the time of check-in by writing their name in CAPITAL LETTER and another needs to be submitted during document verification on help desk in EEE Department.
Meal
  • You may avail food at the available hostel messes on a pay-and-eat basis.
