Nine faculty and their labs work across power systems, power electronic converters, high‑voltage engineering, microgrids and electric mobility — most projects sit at the intersection of at least two of these.

Research and activities
The Power Engineering Group brings together faculty whose work spans the electricity grid itself to the converters, machines and vehicles that connect to it. Much of the work moves between simulation and the group's own R&D laboratories.
Electric mobility
Motor drives, wireless power transfer for EV charging and machine design for electric and hybrid vehicle powertrains.
High‑voltage engineering & materials
Insulation diagnostics, nanofluid‑based dielectric liquids and long‑term condition assessment of transformer insulation systems.
Power electronic converters
Switched‑boost and multi‑port DC‑DC converters, smart transformers and coupled‑inductor topologies, taken from analysis through to hardware prototypes.
Power systems & smart grids
Active distribution network planning, renewable integration, voltage control for grids that increasingly host distributed generation, state estimation and synchrophasor‑based monitoring.
