Talk title: Brain-Inspired Computing Using Magnetic Domain Wall Devices
Bio: S. N. (Prem) Piramanayagam got the Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India, in 1994. He carried out further research at Shinshu University, Japan (1995-1999) and worked at the Data Storage Institute (DSI), Singapore (A*STAR). He is currently an Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He has 35 years of experience in magnetism, with research topics including amorphous magnetic alloys, permanent magnetic materials, and thin films and nanostructures for recording and spintronics applications. His current interest lies in the interdisciplinary areas of magnetism, electronics, and nanotechnology.
Prem has received an award for teaching excellence from NTU Singapore and several awards for outstanding research from DSI Singapore. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has been an active volunteer in the IEEE Magnetics Society, including chair of the Technical Committee, elected member of the Administrative Committee, chair of the Singapore Chapter, and co-chair of the 2018 Intermag Conference in Singapore. He has published over 200 journal articles and has filed several patent applications. He co-edited the book, Developments in Data Storage: Materials Perspective (Wiley-IEEE Press, 2011). He was a distinguished lecturer of IEEE Magnetics Society in 2024 and has delivered this lecture in 66 venues around the world.
Talk title: Routing a collection of UAVs
Bio: Prof. Swaroop Darbha received his Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras in 1989, M. S. and Ph. D. degrees from the University of California in 1992 and 1994 respectively. He was a post-doctoral researcher at the California PATH program from 1995 to 1996. He has been on the faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University since 1997, where he is currently a Professor. Dr. Darbha has been elevated to the grade of a Fellow in ASME and IEEE for his contributions to Intelligent Transportation Systems and Autonomous Vehicles. His current research interests lie in the development of vehicle control and diagnostic systems for Autonomous Ground Vehicles, development of planning, control and resource allocation algorithms for a collection of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

Bio: Dr. Arun Kumar Singh is an Associate Professor at University of Tartu, Estonia, where he leads the AKS lab. He did his PhD from IIIT-Hyderabad, India and postdocs at NTU, Singapore and Tampere University Finland before joining Univ of TARTU. His research interests lie in developing optimization algorithms for robot planning, control and perception, and fusing data-driven approaches based on deep learning with more classical algorithmic reasoning.

Bio: Dr. Manashita Borah is currently a senior grade Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tezpur University, Assam, India, where she has been working since 2016. During 2022-2023 she was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, conducting research on energy storage systems and control. Dr. Borah obtained her PhD from Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Silchar. Dr Borah is the first woman to receive the Young Scientist Award conferred by Department of Science and Technology, Government of Assam in 2019. She has won the Young Engineer’s Award in 2018 and two IEEE best paper awards, and one of the papers she co-authored was a best student paper finalist at the American Control conference, 2024, Toronto, Canada. Her research expertise lies on batteries for e-vehicles, control systems, fractional calculus, and nonlinear dynamics.

Bio: Prof. P. B. Sujit is a Professor in the department of EECS at IISER Bhopal from 2020 onwards. Prior to IISER Bhopal he worked at IIIT Delhi, Loughborough, Porto and Provo (Utah). He completed his PhD from IISc, Department of Aerospace Engineering, in 2006, MTech from VTU and B.E in EE from Bangalore University. His research interests are in multi-robot systems, guidance and control, and human-swarm interaction.
