Phylogenetic description of the genus Hedychium
Hedychium, reportedly is a monophyletic group (Kress et al., 2002). The phylogeny based on the sequences from the species which were collected and described here has two clad one small and other big. The small clad has unidentified Hedychium species3 falling as the only single species while the other clad hosts all the remaining species. Further these set of individuals are divided into two sub sets. The close clustering of H. gardenarium and H. coronarium reiterates the similarity that has been observed morphologically. |
