 I was born in Imphal (East), Manipur to Sanasam (Ongbi) Ibemhal Devi and Sanasam Khomei Singh. Currently, I am a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering,Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. I received my Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and worked with Prof. Hema A. Murthy and Prof. Timothy A. Gonsalves. During my Ph.D program, I was supported by IBM PhD Fellowship Award (a world wide competition).
I worked in the area of Social Media Data Analysis, Complex Network Analysis, Information Retrieval and Extraction, Natural Language Processing. I have founded the Open Source Intelligence Lab, Dept. of CSE. in the year 2014 with the project funding from MEiTY with the objective of conducting research on deriving actionable intelligence from freely available social media data, and developing various tools. Since the inception of the Lab, it has successfully executed various sponsored projects.
I had published close to 100 Peer Review papers in reputed international Journals and Conferences, and guided 11 PhD scholars. I am involved in several ongoing and successfully completed sponsored projects worth more than Rupees 18 crores in the capacity as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator.
