Chapter Activities: 2016 - 2017
Enjoy Physics
(Optics Outreach II - Dhemaji)
28th and 29th October, 2016
The event named as "Enjoy Physics", is a part of the outreach activities of the SPIE IITG student chapter in association with Outreach Education Programme, IIT Guwahati. At "Enjoy Physics", the young and enthusiastic students will gain an unique experience and learn physics behind the concepts they learn in their text books. This is an attempt to develop an interest on science and its related areas among the student community through some simple models and experiments. Students will develop a deeper understanding of how they can implement the concepts they learn in their classes. The students will also have prospects of knowing about different career opportunities.

Organized by
SPIE IIT Guwahati Student Chapter in association with Outreach Education Programme, IIT Guwahati- The event "Enjoy Physics", was the first outreach camp that was held outside Guwahati, i.e. at Dhemaji which is about 500 Km east of Guwahati.
- The main objective of the camp is to promote science (mainly physics and optics) in some of the remote village schools where students hardly get such exposure of science and technology.
- The event was conducted at three (i.e. Residential Higher Secondary School Silapathar, Moridhal College and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Dhemaji) venues with the presence of more than 200 students from various schools and coleges in each of the three venues.
- The event was quite successful in the sense that the students enjoyed the programmes and showed their enthusiasm to know and learn something new.
- A token of appreciation in the form of a certificate from our chapter, is distributed to two students of class IX, Sri Gopal Debnath and Sri Bhabesh Gogoi, from Residential Higher Secondary School Silapathar, for their inovative idea of developing a mobile charger using a rotating wheel (Jotor).
