  • We signed an MOU with a Fin-Tech firm of New York “AlphaBeta” to run a course in our campus on Equity and Portfolio Management along with a certification from NSE Academy.
  • We successfully conducted two batches of EPM in which 16 students took the course and completed it.
  • There was a Live Video Conference session regarding the same on 26th Sept, 2018 at our Conference Hall.

  • WorldQuant is a Quantitative Investment Firm founded in 2007 and currently is spread across more than 17 countries.
  • They have a simulation platform called ‘Websim’ which allows you to create trading signals and strategies in the from of python code and basic expressions.
  • One of their Websim researchers came to campus on 27th January to brief everyone about building those strategies on Websim.
  • In the workshop, he covered some basic training videos and helped the students in building some types of alphas.

A workshop on Fundamental Investing techniques employed by Fin-Tech firms covering all the valuation models also. Dr. Harish Kumar is a Wall Street Investment manager with 15 years experience, Managed assets worth $10 billion in global equities and alternative equity investment strategies at Madison Square, ING Investment Management, and Aeltus Investment Management, Dr. Kumar received a Ph.D. and M.Phil. from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University, a Masters from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a Bachelor's degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Kumar is a CFA charterholder.

This was organized on a weekend. On Saturday, we covered the basics in Finance and On Sunday, we covered the basics of Economics. - At last, we explained them how to start studying in this domain. – Around 40 people were present. It was an enthusiastic response from the freshers and they learned a lot.

This workshop was taken by the secretary. It was rather more math-oriented including the topics as follows

  • Measuring Return
  • Measuring Risk
  • Preferences and Risk Aversion
  • Utility Theory
  • Optimizing using solver MS-Excel

– Around 35 freshers were present. They learnt various tools of Excel which will help them in building portfolios according to the investor preference.

  • InternTheory is a Mumbai based company that provides various types of courses related to finance and other fields.
  • We were mainly interested in MS-excel, R-programming and Stock Markets course.
  • They also provide internship opportunities to students completing the course.
  • Around 20 people registered for the courses.

  • This year Finance and Economics club showcased in TechEvince for the first time.
  • The project mentioned below named “Index Fund” was showcased. We named the fund we made as “Zenith Fund”.

  • Outcome – Many students and professors were impressed by seeing the outcome of the project and various techniques involved to make the fund.
