About me
Subhankar Biswas is a PhD research scholar in the department of Chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. Subhankar received his Batchelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Chemistry from Hooghly Mohsin College, University of Burdwan in 2017 and Master’s degree (M.Sc.) degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore in 2019. Then he joined IIT Guwahati in July, 2019 to pursue his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Subhas Ch. Pan. He is recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (Lateral Entry) from September, 2020.
His current research work is focused on Asymmetric Synthesis of Heterocycles having biologically active moieties and exploring New Organocatalysts.

Research
The main objective of our group is the development of new methodologies. A critical challenge for synthetic chemists is control of the regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselectivity of organic transformations. We try to develop diastereoselective and enantioselective reactions using organocatalysts. In the organocatalysis we use predominantly chiral amine, bifunctional catalysts and chiral acid catalysts.
