IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SELECTED SUMMER INTERNS (from May 2018)
Terms & Conditions
- The internship is self-financed. No scholarship or financial support will be provided to interns.
- IIT Guwahati will only provide in-campus accommodation to the interns in the Hostels at subsidized rates.
- Kindly note that although we have several computers and software in our lab, we would still suggest you to bring your laptop and software you'd like to work on, in case they are not available here. Apart from these, we will be able to provide you with most of the things you'll require for your project here at UE & HCI Lab.
- Some of the projects are with the industry and will require a non-disclosure agreement to be signed. In such cases selected content can be included in your portfolio after approval from UE-HCI Lab, IITG.
How to Reach
How to Reach Guwahati?
Guwahati is well connected by air, rail and road with the rest of the country. There are direct flight services from/to Mumbai, New Delhi and Kolkata with connectivity to all major cities in the country. Direct train services are available from/to all major metropolis and cities in the country.
How to Reach IIT Guwahati?
The Institute is located on the outskirts of the city of Guwahati and can be reached conveniently. It is around 20 km from the heart of the city and around 35 min. drive from the airport. To reach the IIT Guwahati campus from the air-port, railway station or any other part of Guwahati city all modes of transport are available.
From Guwahati Airport
Prepaid taxis are available from the airport to the IITG campus. Taxi fare should be around Rs. 500 to Rs. 550 (max) from the airport to the IITG campus. Ola and Uber cabs are also available - they generally prefer cash payments.
From Guwahati Railway Station
IIT Guwahati also has its own transportation facilities to ply to and fro from IIT Guwahati campus to the city which start from Pan Bazar Water Tank (opposite to Railway station, near to the Reserve Bank of India) Station Road, Panbazar, Guwahati city. Important Landmarks nearby: Reserve Bank of India, Hotel President.
Hired cars are also available from Guwahati city to IIT Guwahati campus. Prepaid taxis are also available from Guwahati airport and the present fare of pre-paid taxi from Airport to IIT Guwahati is around Rs. 500/-. The Taxi fare from Guwahati Railway station to IITG campus is around Rs. 500/-.
Preparing for weather in here...
It is suggested to carry your own bedsheets, pillow cover, curtain also thin sheet/blanket to cover in case it gets slightly cold due to rain; otherwise it is sunny-warm-humid here, sometimes hot-very hot too. Since it rains heavily, it would be good to carry umbrella, etc. Advisable to carry ONE jacket/sweater/pullover just in case.

Currently we are accepting applications only for Summer Internships. Submit your applications by April 2, 2018 (11:59 pm IST).
Thank you to all those who have shown interest in our lab. We are no longer taking internship applications. Decision regarding internship positions will be made by second or third week of April and mailed to all the applicants.
Areas of work:
Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Usability Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented/ Virtual Reality, Educational Technology, Branding, Graphic Design and Product Design.
Applications Process:
- The internships are only open to currently enrolled UG, PG and PhD students at a recognized university/ institute.
- Send your applications to any of the Teaching Assistants (TA) and also CC the mail to Prof. Pradeep Yammiyavar [pradeep@iitg.ernet.in].
