Brief Profile : Prof. S.C. Sharma is an amalgamation of an eminent academician, researcher and proficient administrator. He is a leading scientist in the field of material science and engineering, nanoenginering and fracture mechanics. The intellectual footprints of Prof. Sharma are exemplified from more than 341 research articles and several books that he co-authored. Cutting edge research contributions of Prof. Sharma are epitomized by 6870 citations in Scopus with an h-index of 43. His latest research work includes photoluminescence of nanophosphors, photoluminescence, thermoluminescence, photocatalytic studies of radioactive nanomaterials, sensors for phenolic compounds, hydroquinone, melamine, dopamine, paracetamol, folic acid etc., display, dosimetry and advanced forensic applications of nanomaterials. Prof. Sharma’s research collaborations are with more than 40 research and academic institutions in India as well as abroad. He along with his team has developed many advanced materials for low-cost housing, earthquake resistant structures, rainwater harvesting, and agro tools apart from materials for defence, aerospace and energy applications. He has ten Doctoral conferments and he was a member of State Planning Board of Government of Karnataka, Former Director of Centre for Manufacturing Research & Technology Utilization, Centre for Social Service & Skills Promotion, Principal of R V College of Engineering, Bengaluru, Vice-Chancellor of Tumkur University and Vice Chairman, Karnataka State Council for Higher Education, Govt. of Karnataka. He has been conferred Honorary Rank of Colonel in the National Cadet Corps by the Directorate General, NCC, New Delhi. Currently, Prof. Sharma is holding the post of Director, NAAC, Bangalore.

Research Interest(s) :

Irini Angelidaki (IA), PhD is Professor at DTU with wide expertise in the area of biofuels (biogas, biohydrogen, bioethanol) production, optimization of the anaerobic processes and development of sustainable solutions for organic waste and wastewater treatment. She has more than 300 scientific publications, (>177 ISI publications); >5 patents. She has been member of the editorial board in 3 international biotechnological/environmental journals. She has served in several national and international committees and worked with a range of organizations and research bodies. Examples hereof are: the Danish Research Council (Free Research Council; Research for Technology and production, FTP); the Swedish Danish Research Formas, the European Research Council’s (ERC) panel, for starters/consolidators for the Life Science program (LS9), the Swedish Research Council (VR) Panel 7uncil. She is a member of the managing committee of the AD Specialist Group IWA. She has the last 20 years coordinated/participated in a large number of projects financed both from EU and from national funding.

IA is coordinator of the Bioenergy Group at DTU Environment an active and dynamic research group working in the following areas: Biogas, Biofuels, Microbial Electrochemistry, Algae as bioresource and Biorefineries.

Research Interest(s) :

Dr. Soteris Kalogirou was born in Trachonas, which is a suburb of Nicosia. He is married and has two children. He received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glamorgan, UK (1995). In June 2011 he was awarded from the University of Glamorgan, UK the title of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.). From January 2019 is a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and from April 2019 he is a Founding Member of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts. He was employed as a Building Services Consultant by the firm Intersol Engineering from 1982-1987, and in various positions in the Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Practice Departments of the Higher Technical Institute from 1987 to 2007. In 2008 he was transferred to the Cyprus University of Technology and now he is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He is considered internationally as an expert in the field of solar thermal collectors, hybrid photovoltaic/thermal systems and to the use of artificial intelligence techniques for the performance prediction of energy and renewable energy systems. He is member of CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers), Chartered Engineer (C.Eng), member of FEANI (Eur Ing), member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), member of ISES (International Solar Energy Society) and member of the Institute of Refrigeration (IoR).
He has published many papers in international journals and refereed conference proceedings, mainly on solar thermal systems, on computational simulation and optimization of solar systems and on the use of artificial intelligence systems for the performance prediction of energy and renewable energy systems. His work received many citations. He was invited/keynote speaker in 65 conferences. He has also authored or contributed chapters in 54 books, he is the editor of the book Artificial Intelligence in Energy and Renewable Energy Systems, editor of the book Soft Computing in Green and Renewable Energy Systems, editor of the book McEnvoy’s Handbook of Photovoltaics, and author of the book Solar Energy Engineering: Processes and Systems and Solar Thermal Desalination, both published by Academic Press. He has participated in the organization of more than 90 international conferences. He has supervised a large number of undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D. theses. He is Editor-in-Chief of Renewable Energy and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Energy journal, Editorial Board Member in another 20 international scientific journals. He is reviewer of papers in another 67 journals and conferences. (Updated June 2021).
