SolidWorks Hackathon

"Creativity is intelligence having fun." -- Albert Einstein. And what better way to unleash your creativity in realising a product which will have practical amd industrial usage! So gear up and get ready to put your best efforts in creating a design using SOLIDWORKS ( and probably see it realise in the 3D printing workshop :p)
What is SOLIDWORKS?   Every industry faces a unique set of challenges in today’s increasingly competitive marketplace. SOLIDWORKS offers solutions that can help with the toughest of engineering tasks.

  • Pre-requisites:-
    • Participants must bring their own laptops with Solidworks already installed.

  • Rules and Guidelines:-
    • Team of maximum 2 people can register.
    • You will recieve the problem statement a day prior to the start of the hackathon on your registered email id.
    • Participants can come prepared with a raw design and execute it in Solidworks during the hackathon.
    • No submission will be accepted after the end of hackathon (1 pm).
    • Plagiarism of design will be strictly prohibited.
    • The decision of the judges and the organizers shall be final and abiding.
    • All submitted files will be the property of Seismech. In case of any discrepancies, the final rights are reserved with Seismech.

  • Venue for the hackathon will be Conference Hall near Mini Auditorium.
  • The event will start at 9 'o' clock in the morning of 14th March and will end at 1pm the same day.
  • The hackathon will be conducted by Dr. Sajan Kapil, Assistant Professor at IIT Guwahati.


Problem Statement

Title:
Design a table top memento.
Size:
The memento size can be 200 mm X 100 mm X 10-100 mm.
Features:
The memento should contain IIT Guwahati's Logo and Name.
It should also contain your full name.
It may (not necessarily) contain the symbols of Assam such as Rhino, Jaapi or Xorai. You can make any two or all of the symbols.
The memento must be light weight.
Marks Distribution:
Creativity - 50 Marks
Volume of the memento - 25 Marks
Manufacturability - 25 Marks

Prizes worth Rs.5000/- will be given.

Badminton Rules

  • Registration is open only for IITG Mechanical Engineering students and department faculty.
  • Only doubles tournament will be held.
  • Participants have to bring their own rackets.
  • All matches will follow the knockout format.
  • In case of tie/odd number of teams left at the end, advantage will be given to the team with maximum point difference.
  • Matches will be of one set with 21 points.
  • Maximum registration:
    • B.Tech :24 teams.
    • M.Tech + Ph.D : 24 teams.

*Only limited number of registrations will be accepted from each programme.
