How to reach Guwahati?

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is located on the North Bank of the Brahmaputra, around 20 km from the heart of Guwahati city. It is about 40 minutes away from the airport. The nearest Railway station is Kamakhya Jn.

To reach the institute from the city, you can avail of the Institute bus service that circuits between the campus and Guwahati. Please download the one-stop app from the playstore to find the bus timing. The bus can be boarded at Panbazar- Fancybazar- Bharalumukh- Kamakhya Gate- Maligaon- Adabari- and Jalukbari. Tata Sumos and Auto Rikshaws are also available.

You can take a ferry from the city to the North Bank for Rs 3, or a ropeway ride for Rs 100.

Solo cabs from the airport will cost around INR 800. Share-cabs from the airport will cost around 250.

Share-autos from Maligaon (Kamakhya Station) have to be boarded from its stand near the temple on the main-road side and will cost 40 Rs to take you to the institute. Some autos will only go to Jalukbari. From Jalukbari, you can find auto-rikshaws going to IIT Guwahati or Amingaon. You will always find rikshaws going to IIT Guwahati from Amingaon.
