    Design of Specifications: Need analysis, converting the needs into mathematical form with the decision support system, arriving at optimal specifications; Conceptual Design: Brain-storming; generation of ideas, techniques for choosing the best alternative; Embodiment Design: Preparation of assembly drawings and bill of materials; Detailed Design: Design calculations, preparation of component drawings, process planning; Prototyping: Fabrication of the full or scale model; Testing and fine tuning of the design.
