Programme Highlights
- This programme is meticulously designed to prepare students to meet the demands of the industry. Upon completion, the students will be well-equipped with essential qualifications, skills, and resources to pursue various roles in the technology sector.
- Students admitted to the programme may choose their pace and course of study. A student can register to lesser number of courses than prescribed in a given trimester.
- The programme will be online and offered on Coursera platform targeting the international learners too.
- The programme is designed for working professionals for enhancing their skills on the contemporary technologies as well as for those who have recently completed Class XII.
- The programme facilitates optional 4-week campus immersion plan for hands-on training at IIT Guwahati.

Eligibility and Admission
- Eligibility: Class XII or equivalent with at least 60% marks and Mathematics as one of the compulsory subjects.

Admission:
- Eligible candidates will be required to enroll into an online Course, based on basic Mathematics, developed specifically for this program. Applicants will be ranked using a Composite Score that will be based upon their performance in Class X, XII, and the online course. Admission will be given on the basis of the rank.
- Alternatively, applicants eligible to appear in JEE (Adv) and have registered for it (in any year) will be given direct admission.
Programme Details
- Duration: Minimum duration of the programme is 4 years. It may be extended up to 8 years.
- Trimester System: There will be 3 terms per year. Duration of each term is about 12 weeks. A gap of about two weeks will be provided after each term.
- Credit Requirement: Total 299 credits for four-year BSc(Hons).

Teaching and Assessment
- Teaching: Fully Online. Medium of instruction is English. Each instruction week will cover recorded videos, live sessions, and discussion hour. Most of the teaching will be done by the faculty members of IIT Guwahati. Some industrial interactions, invited guest lectures, and industry courses/certificates will be made available as part of the degree curriculum.
- Assessments:
- Continuous Assessments throughout the trimester will consist of practice assignments, graded assignments, quizzes and term projects
- Summative Assessment at the end of each course in online or ofine mode.
- Provision of supplementary examinations if student fails any course.
Fee Structure
- Admission Fee: Rs. 50,000. To be paid once at the time of admission.
- Course Registration Fee: Rs. 1,000 per credit. To be paid every trimester based on the number of credits registered.

Eligibility criteria:
To be eligible to apply for this degree programme, you need to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You must have passed the Class 12 (senior secondary) examination or equivalent with a minimum score of 60% (overall / aggregate) from your country’s or province’s education board or a recognised University.
- You must have studied Mathematics as a compulsory subject at Class 12 (senior secondary) or equivalent level.
APPLICANTS WITHOUT JEE (ADVANCED) ELIGIBILITY
- Applicants are required to undertake an online qualifier test to qualify for the admission process. An preparatory online course - Mathematics Essentials has been specifically designed to help applicants prepare for this test.

- Applicants will be ranked using a composite score that will be based on their overall performance in Class 10 and Class 12 examinations, and the qualifier test.
- Applicants will be notified of their composite score within 72 hours of taking the qualifier test.
APPLICANTS WITH JEE (ADVANCED) ELIGIBILITY
- Applicants will be eligible to receive a direct admission into the programme if they were eligible to appear in Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) in any year.
- In this case, applicants are not required to undertake the Mathematics Essentials online, and the qualifier test.
- Applicants will receive an offer of admission after review of their application.
The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) is conducted by the Joint Admission Board (JAB).
Documents required to submit your application:

- Class 12 or equivalent Marksheet and Certificate
- Additional doc For JEE (Advanced) based Entry: Copy of admit card of JEE (Advanced) or any other document that proves you were eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced).
Accepted Class 12 equivalents:
- The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
- Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU.
- H.S.C. vocational examination.
- A Diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
- Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the AIU to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination.
- In case the Class XII examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.
Admission Process & Selection:
- You will have to complete the application form, pay the application fee (INR 500) and submit with required documents before the application deadline.
- Your application will be reviewed by the admissions team at IIT Guwahati and your eligibility will be determined.
- There are separate processes for applicants with a JEE (Advanced) registration and ones without it.
FOR APPLICANTS WITH A JEE (ADVANCED) ELIGIBILITY
Applicants with a JEE (Advanced) registration are not required to take any qualifier test. Upon review of your application, if eligible, an offer of Admission will be sent to you.
FOR APPLICANTS WITHOUT JEE (ADVANCED) ELIGIBILITY
Applicants without a JEE (Advanced) registration will be required to take a qualifier test. This will be a basic mathematics test and you will have access to preparatory resources in the form of a course from IIT Guwahati.
- Upon review of your application, IIT Guwahati will send a payment link of INR 2,000 via email within a week of submitting your application.
- Upon payment of the fee (Preparatory course & Qualifier test fee), you will be enrolled into the Mathematics Essentials Course.
- The online course will be a 4-module-long mathematics preparatory course with a Mathematics aptitude test.
- Once you complete the course, you will be able to select a date for you to appear for the qualifier test.
Instructions for Qualifier Test (Only for Non-JEE track applicants)
- You will receive an invitation email to enrol in the Mathematics Preparatory Course from Coursera. Please accept this invitation at the earliest.

The qualifier test is online. The structure is as below:
- Duration: 2 hours
- No. of Questions: 80
- Marking: 1 for correct, 0 for wrong, 0 for not attempting
- The qualifier test will be proctored via Honorlock.
- Proctored exams take place on the Coursera platform and use Honorlock’s Chrome extension.

Exam Day Checklist:
- Double-check that the Qualifier Test period is live.
- Find an environment that is quiet and free of distractions.
- Have your government-issued photo identity document (ID) ready. Name on your ID should match with the name on the application.

- Make sure that the Honorlock Chrome Extension is installed and enabled in Chrome.

Steps after Offer of Admission
- You will have to pay the Admission fee (INR 50,000) to secure admission.
- IIT Guwahati will send you a welcome kit, including your student ID, and official email address after verifying your transaction.
- You will then register for Trimester 1 credits and pay the required fee accordingly. (INR 1,000 per credit)

Internship or Term Projects:
- Internships can be completed in online or offline mode, while projects will be online only. Students may visit the campus during project or internship work.
- Internships or Projects can be done in collaboration with tech companies or corporates.
- Internships can begin from the third year onwards, after completing courses up to the 6th trimester.
- Internships/term projects have a total of 18 credits. Students must complete these 18 credits in the form of internships or term projects in three parts, worth 6 credits each.
- Projects and internships can be pursued alongside regular trimester courses.
Capstone Project Gain hands-on experience with real-world projects, such as building NLP models, developing product recommendation systems, and designing machine translation solutions, which prepare you for diverse career paths. - Capstone projects can begin only in the fourth year, after completing all courses up to the 9th trimester.

Supplementary examination: Following options are provided to candidate who fail a course.
- Register for the course again, whenever it is offered next, and participate in the continuous assessments, OR
- Register only for the continuous assessments in that particular course, with optional attendance for the online classes and live sessions , OR

- This 4-year bachelor’s programme follows a trimester-based system and offers you the flexibility to complete the programme in up to 8 years, if needed.

Flexibility to pause learning when you need to:
- You have the option to learn at your own pace and can also register for fewer courses than prescribed in a given trimester.
- There is no minimum credit requirement each trimester, however, if you plan to not register for any credit in a trimester, you need to maintain your active enrollment by paying a Program Continuation Fee of Rs. 5,000 per trimester.

The primary difference is that this programme is offered completely online, and offers flexibility to better meet the needs of working professionals; as compared to the on-campus programme in the same discipline.
The multi-entry and multi-exit options available in the online degree programme, are not available in the on-campus degree programme. The curricula and durations of both programmes are identical. If you are extended an offer to join the programme, you will be required to confirm your acceptance of the offer, and pay a non-refundable Admission Fee of INR ₹50,000, to secure your seat. Based on your preferences, you must then register for all or some of the courses on offer for the first trimester. To register for a course, you must pay the applicable course fee which is determined by:
- The number of credits in the course, and
- The per-credit fee of INR ₹1,000
For example, if you are registering for one 8-credit course and two 6-credit courses offered in Trimester 1 of the programme: then the total course fees you must pay for the three courses (totalling 20 credits) amount to INR ₹20,000 (i.e. 20 credits x INR ₹1,000).
If you fail a course, you have the following options:
- Register for the course again, whenever it is offered next, and participate in the continuous assessments, OR
- Register only for the continuous assessments in that particular course, with optional attendance for the online classes and live sessions (if the attendance is more than 75% in the previous attempt), OR
- Register for the Supplementary Examination, if available.
