Department of Physics, IIT Guwahati has been organizing National Science Day on February 28 every year, a day which is celebrated in India to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir C V Raman on February 28, 1928. This is the fifth edition of the event organized by the department. The primary aim of this event is to highlight the achievements of faculty, research scholars and postdoctoral fellows of the department along with discussion, interactions with an invited expert working closely on topics related to the National Science Day theme of a particular year. This year, an outreach component is also introduced welcoming students from outside to participate in an online Science Quiz competition.
