Dr. Joshi is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, India. His research interests include micro, nano, and precision manufacturing processes with a focus on applications of lasers in manufacturing, thin-wall machining, single point diamond turning, CAD/CAM, and manufacturing automation. His research addresses both the basic as well as applied problems pertaining to these manufacturing processes. Dr. Joshi’s research group also works on the development of intelligent machine tools and CAD/CAM systems. He has developed a Massive Open Online Courses on “Automation in Manufacturing”, "Laser Based Manufacturing" and a web course on “Mechatronics and Manufacturing Automation” as part of the Government of India’s flagship project National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL).
