Sukhomay Pal is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Associate Faculty in the School of Business, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. He obtained his Ph.D. Degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, India, in the area of welding process monitoring using machining learning. Prior to joining IIT Guwahati, he worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He has completed five sponsored and eight consultancy projects from SERB, North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited, Naval Research Board, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, New India Assurance Co. Ltd. and Assam Carbon Product Ltd. He has organized seven management development programs (MDPs) for executes and managers of center and state-level public sector organizations on (i) Production Planning, Inventory Control and Supply Chain Management, (ii) Project Management, (iii) Inventory and Supply Chain Management, (iV) Marketing Management, (V) Artificial Intelligence and Its Implementation in Indian Context, funded by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. He has published more than 100 research articles in journals, conferences and edited books of high repute. His research interests include machine learning in management, optimization of manufacturing system, operations management. His teaching interests include operations management and Artificial Intelligence.
