Visit by Japanese Delegates to IIT Guwahati on 16 Jan. 2025
On 16th January 2025, a team of four Japanese delegates visited the Alumni & External Relations (AER) office at IIT Guwahati to discuss potential long-term academic and research collaborations. The delegation was led by Mr. Hideaki Kitajima, Director General of the Industrial Department of Hamamatsu City.
The delegation held discussions with Prof. Deepak Sharma, Associate Dean of the AER office, regarding avenues for collaboration. They expressed appreciation for IIT Guwahati's active Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several Japanese universities and conveyed their interest in establishing similar agreements.
Key discussion points included the possibility of
- Faculty-level research collaborations,
- Joint research and industrial projects,
- Student exchange programs, and
- Internship opportunities.
The delegates also met with faculty members from various departments, including Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Design, Data Science, Energy Science, and allied fields, to explore potential areas for academic and research partnerships.
This visit reflects a significant step toward strengthening IIT Guwahati's ties with academic and industrial institutions in Japan, fostering mutual growth and innovation.
