Brief career profile

Professor Alaknanda Ashok has over 24 years of professional experience and her work in the area of Digital image processing, application of Renewable energy and application of Internet of thing(IoT), Wireless Sensor Network, smart GIS based Water Info System and e-health applications.

She has over 45 publications to her credit in international journals and conferences. She has written 02 books and 04 book chapters in the area of Digital Image Processing and Wireless Sensor Networks. She has supervised 36 masters and more than 100 undergraduate students and at present currently supervising 07 Ph.D. students in the field of Digital Image Processing, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical Engg.

She also has got three patents in her name for developing technologies in the area of SDN based security process, management and security for IoT, Vehicle traffic management system. She also coordinated several projects of engineering clusters of 36 labs of all over India as senior Principal Scientist, Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), GOI, India.

She was holding a charge of Director of Women Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand for about 4.5 years, which is the only educational institute of Uttarakhand Government dedicated for providing Technical education to Girls students of remote and hilly areas of Uttarakhand.

She has also contributed at the post of Controller of Examination, Ph.D. programme Coordinator, Member of Board of Studies and Sports Committee Chairperson in Uttarakhand Technical University.

Completed:

  1. Engineering of Disaster Mitigation and Health Monitoring for Safe and Smart Built Environment (EDMISSIBLE)Nodal & Participating Lab: CSIR- CBRI, CRRI, c-MMACS, CGCRI, CSIO, CEERI, CMERI, NEIST, NEERI.

       Total Cost: Rs. 3352.00 lakh.

On-going:

  1. MHRD-World Bank Project scheme TEQIP- Our institute is included in cycle III of this project and Institute will received Rs. 10 Cr from September 2017 onwards. This grant will be used to upgrade the quality of the Institute.

  2. Implementation of novel multilevel inverter topology with SHE based modulation scheme for microgrid Funding Agency: National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU).Total Cost: 1775000/- INR; Project Duration: 01 year.
