Brief career profile

Dr. B Manoj Kumar is Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering with 27 years of teaching B.E and M.Tech Programs in Environmental Engineering; Health Sciences & Water Engineering and Energy System & Management as well as M.Sc. (Environmental Science), University of Mysore and JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysore and nearly 25 years of research experience. He is PI for three major research projects funded by government organisations and published 36 journal articles and over 18 articles in conference proceedings, and co-authored a book chapter. He is fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and life member of ISTE, IWWA, IAAPC, INS and Indian Institute of Valuers. He has coordinated several Refresher Courses, Workshops and STC and delivered invited talks in refresher courses, workshops, symposiums and continuing education programmes for working professionals of various Government organizations of different states of India. Dr. B. Manoj Kumar has contributed to Industrial Development in the form of Consultancy for nearly 30 major consultancy projects on lake & river water quality monitoring and modelling (rivers: Ganga in Bihar, Cauvery, Thungabhadra, Kali, Thunga, Bhadra, Kabini, and Belandur Lake at Bangalore), environmental impact assessment, design of wastewater treatment system for industries and institutes, ground water quality monitoring, etc. He served as a technical member of Karnataka Tank Conservation & Development Authority (KTCDA), Bangalore (2018 onwards), Karnataka State Environmental Appraisal Committee, Department of Ecology and Environment, Government of Karnataka (constituted by MoEF&CC, Government of India) and Committee of Experts constituted for examination of report submitted by EMPRI on protection of Thippegondanahalli Reservoir (TGR), Bangalore, Indi, among others.

  1. Dr. B. Manoj Kumar, Principal Investigator, (Dr. PuspaTuppad (Co-PI), Rohini (Collaborator – CDD)),”Biological nutrient removal from wastewater in modified DEWATS system for reduced land and energy footprint”, Department and Science and Technology under Water Technology Initiative. DST funding: Rs. 35 lakhs; Collaborator: Rs. 12 lakhs.

  1. Dr. B. Manoj Kumar, Principal Investigator, (Dr. H. S. Ramesh (C0-PI) for the research project on ”River Water Quality Modelling Studies to Mitigate the Pollution Load from Coffee Processing Units around Cauvery River Basin” Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, New Delhi. Total cost of the project is Rs. 18.54 Lakhs.

  1. Dr, B. Manoj Kumar, Principal Investigator for the research project on ”Advanced Treatment Techniques for Fluoride, Hardness and Nitrate Removal” Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka. Total Cost of the research project is Rs. 11.81 Lakhs.
