• Dr. Vimal Katiyar and Arvind Gupta have been conferred with the 8th National Awards for Technology Innovation in Petrochemicals & Downstream Plastic Processing Industry (2017-18) for their innovation "Heat Stable Poly(lactic acid)" in new polymer development sector, by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India on January 24, 2019.
• Received Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award for “Processing of Biodegradable Films for Food Packaging Application with High Oxygen Barrier Properties” under ‘Materials Engineering’ category in the 6th Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Awards 2017 organized by Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions on March 5, 2017 at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.
• Received Best Poster Award for “Poly (Lactic Acid)/Amphiphilic Chitosan Bionanocomposite Films with Improved Crystallization, Mechanical and Gas Barrier Properties” under ‘Departmental Best Poster’ category in Research Conclave 2017 organized by Student’s Academic Board, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati from 16-19th March, 2017.
• Conferred with the Dr J N Baruah Science Award 2016 in 'Chemical Sciences' for outstanding achievements during the period 2011-2016.
• Arvind Gupta and Vimal Katiyar’s research work has been selected for the IIChE Award on Synthesis, Characterization and Property Evaluation of Stereocomplex Poly-(Lactic Acid)” in CHEMCON 2015.
• Vimal Katiyar and Neelima Tripathi have been awarded for their work on "Biobased Adhesive" by Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Awards on 13 March, 2016 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
• Vimal Katiyar and Prodyut Dhar have been selected for the 6th National Awards for Technology Innovation in Petrochemicals & Downstream Plastic Processing Industry (2015-16) for Innovation in Polymer Waste Management & Recycling Technology and Green Polymeric Materials and Products for their work on "Value Added Cellulose Nanocrystals Production from Waste Resources and its High End Applications" from Government of India on January 20, 2016.
• Vimal Katiyar, Akhilesh Kumar Pal and Neelima Tripathi have been selected for the 6th National Awards for Technology Innovation in Petrochemicals & Downstream Plastic Processing Industry (2015-16) on behalf of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati for Innovation in Polymeric Materials for their work on "Industry Production of Degradable Packaging Films for Stringent Food Packaging Applications" from Government of India on January 20, 2016.

• Received Marshall Award for Best Student Contribution to Chitin and Chitosan Research in 2015-16 under the discipline: “Application of Chitin and Chitosan in Chemistry & Environmental Application” in 11th Asia Pacific Chitin and Chitosan Symposium & 5th Indian Chitin and Chitosan Society Symposium from 28-30th September, 2016 at Kochi, Kerala, India.
• Awarded with the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers CHEMCON NEERI Distinguished Speaker Award on 29th December, 2015.
• Rahul Patwa, Amit Kumar and Vimal Katiyar have been awarded with Best Paper Presentation for their work entitled “Studies on Silk-based Bionanocomposites,” in the Fourth International Symposium on Advances in Sustainable Polymers, ASP-17, held at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Assam, India from Jan 8th -11th, 2018.
• Gourhari Chakraborty, Prodyut Dhar, Gopal Pugazhenthi and Vimal Katiyar have been awarded with Springer 2nd Best Poster for their work entitled “Development of Fe-Cellulose Nanocrystal (Fe-CNC) based Thin Polymeric Film for Ethanol Sensing” in the Fourth International Symposium on Advances in Sustainable Polymers, ASP-17 held from January 8th -11th, 2018 at IIT Guwahati, India.

• Received EU-COST Cash Award for COST-Training School on "Synthesis of Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Nanoparticles for Innovative Nanostructured Composites" at the Engineering Faculty, University of Naples "Federico II" Italy held from February 28th to March 2nd, 2011.
• Received EU-COST Cash Award for participation in COST-Training school on "Mastering Interfaces in Composite and Nanostructured Materials: Advances in Processing and Characterization Methods" at Thun, Switzerland, held from May 4-8, 2009.
