Waste Management and Research Group
Waste Management Research Group (WMRG) is a group of dedicated and enthusiastic researchers working under the supervision of Prof. Ajay S. Kalamdhad and Dr. Meena Khwairakapam at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. We, at WMRG, work on varied research areas including but not limited to, the biological treatment of organic wastes, organic pollutants, and heavy metals in both liquid and solid wastes. We also deal with modelling, monitoring, and assessment of surface and groundwater quality. Our vision for a long time has been transforming “Waste into Wealth” thereby contributing our bit to the environment.
WMRG has also taken the initiative to conduct an international conference “RECYCLE” bi-annually. RECYCLE started as a symposium in 2012, and gradually rose to the level of an international conference in the subsequent years. The international conference was successfully conducted in the years 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2023.
