Madhava Mathematics Competition
T he Madhava Mathematics Competition, is a nationwide competition held annually for undergraduate mathematics students. Named after the Indian mathematician Madhava of the fourteenth century, the competition is organized jointly by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR, Mumbai and S.P. College, Pune, and is partially funded by the National Board for Higher Mathematics. Apart from certificate of participation, prizes and medals, students selected through the competition are given training in nurture camps with representations from various regions.
We have been trying to make young students of North East region to participate in the competition. The Competition, in a form of written examination of three hour duration on usually the first/second Sunday of January every year. From the year 2017, the competition is being held at four centres in Assam, namely, Guwahati, Tezpur, Dibrugarh and Silchar. I have been coordinating these centres, with the help of following Centre-Coordinators:
