Mathematics Training Programmes

 

Following are some of the training programmes for students and teachers that I was involved in organizing or as a resource person.

 

For Students at Undergraduate Level:

• MTTS Programme:

(a) Taught courses as a resource person in four-week summer camp (MTTS Programme) every year since 1999 (except in 2015);
(b) Acted as Local Coordinator of MTTS Programme held at IIT Guwahati for nine times since 1999;
(c) Organized (as mentor and Academic Coordinator) one/two week Mini-MTTS Programmes in a number of places in the Eastern part of the Country:

3. Dibrugarh University, Assam (2015),

4. Barrackpore Rastraguru Surendranath College, West Bengal (2015),

5. Mizoram University, Aizwal, Mizoram (2016),

7. Tezpur University, Assam (2018),

8. Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, Nagaland (2018),

9. Ramkrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara, Kolkata, West Bengal (2018).

• Organized and conducted on behalf of Mathematics Education Trust, Assam (META) a weeklong training programme in Dibrugarh University, September 18-24, 2005,

• Organized a two-week "Summer Training Programme" for undergraduate students of North East, selected through Madhava Mathematics Competition, in July 2017.

• Participated in many workshops/ training programmes organized by Tezpur University, Dibrugarh University and colleges in Assam as a resource person.

For Teachers at Undergraduate Level:

• Organized and conducted two one-week Teacher Enrichment Workshop (TEW)s for college teachers, supported by National Centre for Mathematics, Mumbai, in December, 2015, December, 2016.

• Organized and conducted Teacher's Enrichment Course in Undergraduate Mathematics Curriculum at IIT Guwahati under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching, 7-12 January 2019.

• Participated in TEW organized by Dibrugarh University in December, 2017.

• Resource person for a number of Training Programmes, Refreshers Course, etc. organized by universities and colleges in North East region.

For Students at School Level:

• As the Managing Trustee, Mathematics Education Trust, Assam (META), organized and conducted the following district level weeklong workshops for high school students:

(i) For Sonitpur District at Darrang College, Tezpur, July 4-10, 2005;
(ii) For Bongaigaon District at Birjhora Mahavidyalay, Bongaigaon, July 12-17, 2005;
(iii) For Nalbari District at Gurdon Govt. H.S. School, Nalbari, December 19-25, 2005;
(iv) For Gohpur sub-division of Sonitpur District at Chaiduar College, Gohpur, July 26 30, 2007;
(v) For Jorhat District at D.C.B. Girls' College, Jorhat, December 19-25, 2007.

• As Academic Coordinator, Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee (2010-2011) of Assam Academy of Mathematics (AAM) organized a series of weeklong Instructional Schools titled Excursions in Mathematics for high school students (funded by NBHM) at EIGHT places across the state of Assam:

(i) Guwahati, 19-24 July, 2010,

(ii) Bongaigaon, 15-20 November, 2010,

(iii) Bilasipara, 18 -23 November, 2010,
(iv) Lakhimpur, 13-18 December, 2010,

(v) Tezpur, 16-21 December, 2010,

(vi) Dibrugarh, 03-08 January, 2011,
(vii) Silchar, 07-12 February, 2011,

(viii) Guwahati, 11-16 July, 2011.

• Participated as resource person in various training programmes organized by Assam Academy of Mathematics (Mathematics Olympiad camps), Assam Science Society (science awareness programmes) and IIT Guwahati (Outreach activity for students, Ishan Vikash programmes) and different schools and colleges in Assam;

For Teachers at School Level: Participated as a resource person in many training programmes including:

• Workshop organized by Assam Science Society at Patacharkuchi Vidyapith, 1998;

• Workshop organized by North Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya, July 2006;

• Workshop organized by St. Mary's College, Shillong, Meghalaya, April 2012;

• Teachers' Training Camps (TTC) under RMSA, at IIT Guwahati, January 2016, and June{July 2016;

• A number of workshops on Mathematics Olympiad organized by di erent branches of AAM.
