FREMAA : Flood and River management Agency of Assam
About: FREMAA is a specialized agency set up by the Govt. Of Assam to address the recurring issues of floods and riverbank erosion. FREMAA is the nodal body for planning, implementing, and monitoring projects related to flood and erosion.
Objectives:
- Comprehensive riverbank protection works at selected sites namely, Dibrugarh, Palasbari-Gumi, and Kaziranga
- Upgradation and construction of embankments in the said sites
- Use of state-of-the-art technology such as sand filled geo-textile bags
Implementing department: Water Resources, Govt. of Assam The project has two tranches. Tranche I consists of Dibrugarh and Palasbari-Gumi subproject, and tranche II consists of Dibrugarh, Palasbari-Gumi, and Kaziranga Sub-project
