- Two research scholar from control and Instrumentation lab, Arghya Chakrabarty and Abhijit Mazumdar have recently attended a reputed International conference IFAC.
The IFAC(International Federation of Automatic Control) World Congress is the world's foremost gathering on automatic control.
- Pradipta Sasmal, a research scholar in IPCV lab, recently visited Chubu Unviersity in Japan for a 2 month long internship.
- Prof. Rakhesh Singh Kshetrimayum and his co-researcher Dr. Brijesh Kumbhani, have been awarded the prestigious "IETE S. K. Mitra Memorial Award 2017".
- Dr. Debabrata Sikdar has been awarded "The Douglas Lampard Electrical Engineering Research Prize & Medal for 2016".
- Six new faculties have joined the EEE department in July 2017. Dr. Ribhu has completed his Ph.D from IIT Roorkee and is working in the field of signal processing
for wireless communication, MIMO systems and adaptive statistical signal processing. Dr. Debabrata Sikdar has completed his Ph.D from Monash University, Australia and
is working on plasmonics and metamaterials, light–matter interaction in nanoscale, dynamic tuning in plasmonic metamaterials and metadevices plasmonassisted optical
switching and other related fields. Dr. Satyam Agarwal has completed his Ph.D. from IIT Delhi and is working on wireless communications and networks, MAC protocols, wireless
network modelling and performance analysis. Dr. Rishikesh Dilip Kulkarni has completed his Ph.D from EPFL, Switzerland and is working on optical metrology, digital optical
signal processing, digital holography, speckle Interferometry and fringe projection profilometry. Dr. Mahima Arrawatia has completed her Ph.D. from IIT Bombay and is working
on energy harvesting, RF circuit design and microstrip antennas. Dr. Salil Kashyap has completed his PhD from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and is working on wireless
communications and signal processing, massive MIMO (a leading 5G wireless technology), algorithm design for wireless systems and its performance analysis, green communications
and cognitive radio.
- In this session, starting from July 2017, five new PhD students and three M.S.+PhD students joined the department in various specializations.
- In 19th convocation of IIT Guwahati, held on 23rd June 2017, 17 research scholars from Department of EEE received their PhD degree.
