Biochar and bio-fertilisers development

2023-01-06

Managing huge amount of agro wastes is becoming a great challenge for farmers and other stakeholders involved with agro and rural sectors. We convert these wastes in to biochar through a low-cost pyrolysis method. We also evaluate the potential impacts of biochar on soil and plant properties. Utilizing biochar for soil amelioration and pollution abatement is our prime focus.

Our research groupalso work on the intricate dynamics of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) in soil systems. We explore these dynamics to facilitate waste valorisation, improve soil quality, and develop biofertilizers.Microbial consortia are carefully screened, isolated and characterized to determine their potential role in enhancing nutrient availability, promoting plant growth, and improving soil fertility.
