  • Magnetic thin films for HDDs: Developed alloy and multilayer magnetic thin films for advanced magnetic recording technology (for heat assisted magnetic recording, HAMR and bit patterned media, BPM) under the supervision of Prof. C. S. Bhatia and Prof. Hyunsoo Yang. 
  • MRAM (SOT and STT): Fabricated and optimized micro-sized p-MTJ for MRAM applications, aimed at ensuring higher thermal stability. Both SOT and STT based devices were studied with Prof. Hyunsoo Yang.
  • Topological material: Optimization and study of sputter deposited topological insulator (TI) such as Bi2Se3 for high spin current generation in future spintronics applications.
  • Dielectric solar materials: Studied properties of ultra-thin (< 2 nm) dielectric SiOx, AlOx, TiOx and SiNx with high fixed charge density for application in passivated contacts.
  • Tribological studies: Study of tribological properties in graphene and ultra-thin carbon films for HDDs and tape applications.
  • Equipment maintenance: Over 8 years of experience in maintaining thin film deposition tools, and clean room facilities.
