The research problems about different aspects of the smart city is being explored and solved.

Research Application

Smart Education

Smart education may be referred to as using technology to enhance education. Some of the problems in smart education are as follows.

  • Find approaches to detect misconduct during online examinations through image processing and machine learning
  • Assistive technology to assist students with hearing disabilities with speech-text conversion
  • Assistive technology to assist students with visual disabilities with automated image captioning
  • Vision-based interest level assessment of students
  • Vision-based mental health anomaly detection of students

Smart Transportation

Smart transportation relies on technology to improve transportation in a smart city. Some significant problems in smart transportation involve:

  • Assistive vision in dark, foggy, and rainy conditions using generative AI
  • Vision-based system to detect distracted driving to prevent road accidents
     

Smart Healthcare

Smart healthcare is a health service system that uses technology such as wearable devices, IoT, and mobile internet to assess an individual's physical and mental health conditions. The problems which we are working on involve:

  • Multimodal mental health estimation
  • Ocular health analysis using fundus images
  • Pulmonary disease diagnosis using lung radiometric images

Smart Aquatics

Smart Aquatics encompasses a term related to intelligent systems for the sustainable management of water resources within smart cities. We are focussing on two specific problems, as follows.

  • Design of an underwater bot for trash removal.
  • Design of an underwater bot for recognizing underwater gestures of divers.

Smart Homes

Smart homes integrate appliances controlled remotely via the internet or interconnected networks. We are working on the following aspects of smart homes.

  • Security systems for entry of authorized persons.
  • Ambiance monitoring of rooms.
  • Smart office environments.
