Formula Student is the world’s biggest competition for engineers.
Every year competitions are held all across the globe. Founded by
the "Society of Automotive Engineers" (SAE) in 1981, the first
competition in Europe took place in 1998. At present, there are more
than 600 teams from universities all over the world competing with
their self-constructed race cars.
The goal is to develop and provide a platform for student engineers
to experience, build, and learn. It offers a unique way to test
students’ theoretical knowledge in a practical context. Students
gain and develop skills such as engineering, project management and
team work.
This is a National level Inter-College event in which teams are
supposed to design and fabricate a energy efficient human and
electrically powered hybrid vehicle. The prospective of conducting
an event of this magnitude at national level is to develop a vehicle
which is eco-friendly,less power consuming,ergonomically feasible .
During the fabrication process of the vehicle,we are required to
follow the rules given by SAE INDIA, an affiliate society of SAE
International. Technical inspection of the vehicle is done by the
people who are working in the field related to Automotive
Engineering .
BAJA SAE India is an inter collegiate competition to design build
and race an off-road All Terrain Vehicle(ATV) that can withstand the
harsh elements of rough terrain.
Team SRIJAN, the team from IITG went to bangalore to participate in
the prelims of the BAJA-2012 and successfully qualified for the
final round. The prelims is named virtual BAJA and has its own
prestige in national level competitions for mechanical engineers.
Our design was made very accurately and innovatively that the judges
who inspected our design in bangalore were impressed very much.
