Summer Internship Programme - 2024

The Department of Mathematics, IIT Guwahati offers summer internships to undergraduate and postgraduate students to enable them to work with the mentors who are faculty members of the Department of Mathematics, IIT Guwahati. The tentative duration of the internship is from May 15 - July 15, 2024.

Applications are invited from interested students of recognized Colleges/Universities/Institutes in India for this internship.

The last date to receiving an application is April 07, 2024. (No more receiving new applications.)

Eligibility for Applying:

1. The student must be enrolled in the 2^nd year of B.A./B.Sc./B.C.A. or 3^rd year of B.E./B.Tech./B.S./M.Sc(Integrated)/M.Tech(Integrated)/B.S.-M.S.(Dual) or 1^st year of M.A./M.Sc/M.C.A/M.Tech. at the time of application.

2. Students should have a strong motivation to carry out work in Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science through the Summer Internship Programme.

An applicant should submit:

1. (Compulsory) The online Google Application Form.
2.  (Compulsory) E Mail consent from the supervisor/mentor.

How to apply:

1. Register yourself on <LINK> by filling up the online application form with your basic information.

2. The applicant should mention possible mentors in order of preference among the available list of faculty members in the online application form. The list of the faculty members who are willing to take summer interns and their research interests are given in the following table. The details of faculty members of the department including their respective areas of interests are available in the departmental website (link it to https://www.iitg.ac.in/maths/index_faculty.php).

3. Applications form should accompany signed forwarding letter from the Head of the Department/Institute of his/her present educational institute in the prescribed format. A scanned copy of the signed Forwarding Letter and E-Mail consent from the supervisor/mentor must be uploaded in a single PDF file. Make sure that the maximum size of the PDF file is less than 1MB.

Other Information about the Internship:

1. Actual duration of internship may vary from a minimum of 4 weeks to a maximum of 8 weeks.

2. The Department of Mathematics, IIT Guwahati will not provide any financial assistance to interns; however, interns can utilize any fellowship (e.g., Summer Research Fellowship of Joint Science Academies (IAS/INSA/NASI)) available to them.

3. The selected candidates will be provided access to the computer lab with internet facility. The attendance record of the selected candidates during the period will be maintained.

4. The Submission of an application does not guarantee selection.

5. On request, hostel accommodation can be arranged for which student bears all expenses.

6. Selected applicants will receive an e-email. The process of acceptance will be informed through that e-mail.

7. Accommodation at IIT Guwahati hostel may be provided based on the availability and on a payment basis @ Rs. 200.00 Per day excluding food.
