A Pan-India vehicle design challenge, SRIJAN was conducted in the month of January’22 honoring India’s journey in the past 75 years. The competition was in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s aim of showcasing our nation’s accomplishments since 1947, reflecting an all Indian character. Participants had to design an automotive vehicle with major subsystems using a CAD modeling software and present a detailed architecture of converting the vehicle into an autonomous one. The design should also inculcate India’s journey and a vision for the Indian automotive market in the next 75 years aligning with the general theme of India@2047. A total of 18 days, in 2 phases, was given to the participants after the release of a detailed Problem statement, which was intimated via mails to the participants. The event saw a total of 216 teams participating with a fair number of final submissions. Among the 200+ submissions, the ones that stood out are the following:
The Winners of this competition is Team Resistance from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat with a total of 117/150 points. We congratulate Kartik Prajapati and Tanmay Jog.
Our take on the design:
Outer body mates were very good with appreciable overall design. Most of the Subsystems were designed that too in working condition. The supporting video was very well presented. The innovation part could have been worked more upon.
CAD details for phase 2 were very well presented and India-specific additions were introduced. More details could have been provided for the architecture to make the car autonomous. Overall design and presentation was very good.
The team that came second with their affluent design skills is Team Solo from SNS College of Technology with 110/150 points. We congratulate Chandru P.
Our take on the design:
The major aspects of designing were one of the very best with appreciable innovation. The architecture for autonomous behavior was missing and the overall design is very similar to an already available commercial one. Overall presentation of the work done was very good.
The team at third position with their affluent design skills is Team MNA from IIT Guwahati with a total of 73/150 points. We congratulate Manish Panwar and Angshuman Hazoary.
Our take on the model:
Outer body mating was very good. The designing aspect and choosing an ambassador as to work upon really blends in with the theme of India@2047.
Few essential subsystems along with major phase 2 ideation were missing which could've been worked upon with proper management of time and resources. Great work overall!
We plan to further bring much more competitions for the general populace as well as the campus junta.
