GUWAHATI, 9th January 2024: The Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati celebrated the 152nd birth anniversary of the eminent scholar, Pandit Hemchandra Goswami on 8th January 2024. The event featured a documentary showcasing the life and significant contributions of Pandit Goswami, whose legacy continues to inspire generations. A calendar providing a brief bio sketch of Pandit Goswami was also released on this occasion.
Dr. Naba Goswami, Chairman of the Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Foundation, graced the occasion with his presence. Chief guest, Dr. Malini Goswami, former Professor of Sanskrit, Gauhati University, provided insights into Pandit Goswami's life, emphasizing his profound impact on various fields. Pandit Goswami's rich legacy, spanning literature and culture was highlighted.
Prof. Uday S. Dixit, Head, Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (CIKS), Prof. Arbind K. Singh, Prof. Lalit M. Pandey and Prof. Konjengbam D. Singh, Mr. Partha Pratim Dasgupta, Senior Fellow of IITG TIDF and Dr. Faladrum Sharma, Project Officer, CIKS were also present at the occasion.
CIKS, IIT Guwahati is executing a project "Pandit Hemchandra Mission for Popularization of Science and Assamese Culture," funded by the Pandit Hemchandra Foundation. This project aims to propagate science and Assamese culture among the students of Assam.
