The Department of Biotechnology, abbreviated as BSBE. Situated at core-3, this department, has its own identity. Biotechnology, as long as the name is appealing to you, so are the divisions which formulate it.

Course Structure

The curriculum comprises of various courses, which many of you possibly haven’t heard of. You will get acquainted to your first core biology course in you second semester, Modern Biology-BT101. Then, the series of biotechnology courses awaits you, with a crisp of chemical engineering courses. These courses are designed in such a way, that you get a complete biotechnology experience in a more prodigious manner.

Since, almost all of us have no biology background in our high school, it is certainly difficult to develop interest in these courses. But eventually, things will become simpler and steady. And for those people, who are not able to develop interest overtime, they have the liberty to follow their own passion, in parallel to the academic courses. The lectures and labs are designed in such a way that a normal person can get ample amount of time, to learn and explore new things he/she always wanted to do.

Future Opportunities

Since, this branch is a research based field and considering the level of knowledge the students get in just four years, it becomes mandatory for the students to pursue higher studies, if they want to get into the core field. There are ample opportunities for R&D abroad and professors lend in their hands and recommendations play a huge role. As for the non-core areas, it is totally up to individual whether he/she wants to do CAT, IAS, Analytics, Photography and what not. Regarding placement, quite a few companies turn up, both in core and other areas.
